Overview

Geviton, in partnership with Aga Khan University Hospital(AKUH), has developed an advanced UPS monitoring solution. This collaboration introduced a system that provides real-time visibility of power sources, automates alerts during power transitions, and ensures UPS backup is used efficiently. The solution enhances operational reliability by preventing prolonged reliance on UPS power.

The Challenge

The management at AKUH needed real-time visibility into power sources to protect critical equipment. The key challenges were difficulties in tracking power supply transitions between mains and UPS power and the possibility of UPS overuse, considering the fact that the UPS should serve only as a backup source for one hour.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Geviton implemented a UPS monitoring system, offering:

• Real-time power monitoring to track transitions between mains and UPS power.

• Automated notifications via email for UPS usage beyond one hour, with escalating severity alerts at 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 1.5 hours.

• Dual communication channels (WiFi & GPRS) for reliable data transmission.

• A backup battery supporting system operations for up to 6 hours after power loss.

• An integrated alarm system that activates when UPS power is overused.

• Daily logs and reports for redundancy and operational tracking.
